Informationen
This volume contains 10 Christmas classics from the classical repertoire arranged for violin and viola. The collection spans nearly 200 years of festive music, beginning with "Schlittenfahrt" from Leopold Mozart's "Divertimento in F" (1756), and concluding with "Troika" from Prokofiev's? "Lieutenant? Kijé Suite" (1933-1934).
The pieces chosen focus on outstanding moments from the Christmas classical repertoire. In the arrangements the violin and viola often take turns to play the melody or the accompaniment while the accompaniments themselves are, on the whole, transcribed directly from the original scores. Endings to the excerpts, all taken from the originals, have been added where appropriate. Bowing and fingering, however, are editorial, although much of the bowing is taken from the string parts in the original editions.
